• silent film project Two Days (numbered 7", £2.75)

    label: Kids

b/w Alligator. Sheffield-based Silent Film Project release their debut single. 'Two Days' is a summer indie-pop anthem in waiting, shot through with references to youthful exuberance and fun; giddily bouncing along with chiming guitars and the interplaying vocals of Paul Musgrave (vocals/guitar) and Lisa O'Hara (vocals/percussion). B-side 'Alligator' keeps up the high standard; both tracks evoking the sounds of The Smiths at their most playful and Belle and Sebastian at their most melodic. The band formed in Scunthorpe as a side project of Paul, Tom Dakin (guitar) and Phill Vernon (drums)'s previous band, which quickly became their main focus with the addition of Lisa & James Keown (bass) & their subsequent relocation to Sheffield. The band have won many plaudits, including winning the Intel Studio competition, based at Proud Galleries in Camden, ahead of thousands of other bands; a victory which led to them signing to Kids. In addition, the band have built up a healthy local following, played shows with Alphabeat, The Wombats and Frank Turner.
