    label: attack

Born Maxwell Livingstone Smith on the 22nd November 1947 in St D’Acre, St James, Jamaica, Max Romeo was responsible for launching an entirely new sub-genre of reggae and, as many say, was the one who put the “rude” into “rude boy”. His lyrics caused an outcry amongst many, but took a massive hold in the music scene. His infamous hit “Wet Dream” was an instant classic, but was banned on many radio stations, particularly in the U.K., where he was gaining notoriety. In 1965 he joined with Kenneth Knight & Lloyd Shakespear to form The Emotions earning their first hit on Ken Lack's Caltone label. This release features 36 classic hits.
