• silent front Trust (CD, £11.50)

    label: Function

Silent Front have been playing their unique brand of abrasive noise-rock since the late 90s. Over the course of these years they’ve released numerous singles and splits alongside the likes of Concentration Champ (featuring a pre-Pulled Apart by Horses Lee Vincent) Tiger Force, Shield Your Eyes and A Kitchen is a Happy Kitchen, culminating in their debut full length album ‘Dead Lake’ in 2010. They also found time to start a record label (Triplejump, in 2010), and put on regular DIY shows in London in Kingston. The band have toured across the UK and Europe extensively visiting cities and towns in Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria and Ireland sharing the stage with the likes of The Hope Conspiracy, Black Elk, Pneu, Hey Colossus, Kong, Cough, Narrows, Attack! Vipers! and That Fucking Tank. ‘Trust’ is a fierce and gut-wrenching record. With nods to noise rock pioneers such as Shellac and The Jesus Lizard it’s an album that could happily sit alongside any of their peers’ releases during the 90s. At times it’s an awkward, unyielding and even uncomfortable listen but as with all great records it’s a rewarding one.
