twopointeight From Wires (LP, £15.95)label: I Scream Records
Sweden’s Twopointeight are back with their third album. • Sprung from a collective of Swedish teenagers, who shared many musical projects in the late 90s, Twopointeight finally completed their line-up in 2003. Their self-titled debut was recorded only a few months later but didn’t see a commercial release until May 2005. It was recorded in only five days and produced by Johan Gustavsson from Randy. The album was extremely well received and the single ‘Redeye’ got a lot of radio and TV airplay throughout Scandinavia. • Hailed by many of their peers as a unique band and great live act, Twopointeight released their second album, simply called ‘Twopointeight II’, via I Scream Records in the spring of 2011. This long-awaited follow up was recorded in 2009 and 2010 and they once again worked with Johan Gustavsson at the legendary Gröndahl Studios. The sound evolved and with gritty guitars backed up by big drums. ‘Twopointeight II’ is an album any punk rocker or music lover welcomed with open arms. Twopointeight toured all over and played alongside some of punk rock’s greatest such as Bad Religion, Millencolin, The Street Dogs and The Gaslight Anthem, they even joined Flogging Molly on their 2007 ‘Green 17’ US tour and since the release of their sophomore ‘Twopointeight II’ they solidified their reputation all over Europe playing everything from Austrian basements to Basque event halls. • In 2013 the band started working on the material for their new album and they were invited by Brian Fallon from The Gaslight Anthem to come over to the US and work together on ‘From Wires’. In September 2013 Twopointeight packed up and headed over to Asbury Park, NJ, where they commenced recording the album at The Lakehouse Recording Studios. • ‘From Wires’ was produced and co-written by Brain Fallon and engineered by Pete Steinkopf from The Bouncing Souls. • Once again a great blend of punk and rock confirming that these guys have created a refreshing and highly enjoyable style of their own.
